At Thomas Ashley Lodge, we expect the young people in our care to thrive, to achieve the very best they can and to be happy. We value every young person and celebrate their unique abilities and our aim is to help them graduate and go on to make a valuable contribution to the community in which they live.
Each young person are challenged via a personalised curriculum to achieve their full potential socially, academically and vocationally, equipping them to manage the challenges they will encounter as adults.
All our young people at Thomas Ashley are referred to us by Local Authorities and they reside in our large home . The young people have been assessed as having ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and sometimes additional Special Educational Needs. Our mission statement is underpinned by our core values and these drive our approach to the curriculum.
Our objective is to ensure, using a range of strategies including autism-specific approaches, that the young people in our care become Independent, Confident Learners, Effective Communicators and Responsible Citizens.
Our core values of Respect, Courage, Fairness, Optimism, Compassion and Resilience are embedded into our learning programmes and sportedd in their School routines.

The foundation of Thomas Ashley Lodge curriculum is built on: Broadening Horizons with Enrichment
In addition to the academic programme, where our young people have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including swimming, horse- riding, days out and so much more, we believe equal opportunities for all. The home has its own garden where our young people learn how to grow and care for vegetables.
Our Music Therapist provides instrumental lessons and musical appreciation. Our young people are taught to cook. In addition, regular educational and personal trips are organised.
In the Sixth-Form, our students participate in additional lessons at a local college. Our structured Enrichment Programme makes the link between School life and the care homes.
Our curriculum also features speaking and listening and promotes a wide range of talk and interaction, staff is trained to use Makaton and Pecs, along with social stories and inspiring reading material, is known to have a positive effect on the development of communication skills for students with ASD. In addition, students with high language needs benefit from focused time with our Speech and Language therapist.
Thomas Ashley currently have one large home specialising in looking after children and young people with learning disabilities. Our home are designed with their needs in mind, making sure to create a holistic and homely space for them to flourish. Many of our young people are autistic, have global development delay, or have intellectual challenges that need a huge amount of support every day. Our fantastic teams in the home dedicate their skills and knowledge to our young people's care.
Our home require the highest quality care and support for up to children with learning disabilities. It is founded on the core values, experience and culture that has made Thomas Ashley one of the most successful independent children's care agencies in the country, south of Yorkshire.
A hugely vital purpose of these home is to ensure that we provide constant, intensive individual attention, stability and support to children who have complex needs requiring a specialised environment and levels of support.
Our new LD home that we call Thomas Ashley Lodge (under Brite Futures) provides a safe home environment and care for children aged 8 to 17 and up all year round. Our first LD home, Thomas Ashley Lodge (provides care for up to five young people. Our specialised teams provide brilliant care for each child, knowing their needs and supporting them to make steps towards life skills.
We know how important it is for our children and young people to feel well looked after, so we always have a high adult to child ratio within the home, with round the clock support.
